Trails 101 - TN Naturalist Program

Visit this link to register.

In this course participants will learn the basics of trail design, maintenance, and construction from professional trail builder and naturalist Michael Meister.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to your favorite hiking and biking trails. This workshop will discuss the foundations of the science of trail building, including hydrology, soil science, recreation ecology, and more. Come ready for a classroom session in the morning and some actual hiking and trail building in the afternoon!

All students are required to have closed-toed shoes. You must be able to hike ½ mile. Long pants and work gloves are recommended. Please bring water and sunscreen, and bug spray if desired. You may bring your own lunch, or grab something to eat on the trail from the park’s restaurant. All tools will be provided.

Rain or shine.

\ This is not a Tennessee Tree Huggers sponsored event and is not organized or led by Tennessee Tree Huggers. We hope to bring this event to the attention of any interested members who want to learn more about trail design and maintenance.
